Synopsis

The Portrait of a Lady is a fiction novel by American novelist Henry James, deals with personal freedom, responsibility, and betrayal. Isabel Archer would never have expected to loose her freedom and inherited fortunes through a marriage proposal fabricated by cunning American expatriates Osmond and Madame Merle. The duo Osmond and Merle who had adulterous relationship for years and have a daughter Pansy. While Osmond wants Pansy to get married to Isabel's early suitor Warburton, she had interest with Edward Rosier. In the preceding moments Isabel is in a dilemma to continue her life with spiteful Osmond or Goodwood her another suitor.
