Synopsis
Stevenson's novel The Master of Ballantrae: A Winter's Tale is considered to be the finest work by him and vastly differs from his early themes of success through adventures. Durrisdeer, one of the noble families in Scotland is in a dilemma whether to support Jacob or King George. The family knows retaining their estate would be risky, if they support any one. As a result the elder brother and heir joins Jacob and younger one remains with King George. Did the strategy work, could the family survive with ownership of their estate. Unusual to Stevenson's work, the novel eventually ends with tragedy.Similar Bookshelves
