Synopsis
Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd is one of the early works of feminist literature to portray a women who had the courage to break the conventional barriers of society. Set in the country side farming back round this novel narrates the lives of young sheep farm owner Gabriel Oak and her employee Bathsheba. Though in reduced circumstance, she denies marriage proposal by Gabriel and leaves the farm.
